The Importance Of A Handshake

It seems strange to think that just a generation or so ago, many complicated business deals were completed with a handshake.  The act of shaking hands goes back for centuries and was initially used as a gesture of peace.  Since then it has evolved to a greeting as well as a symbol of trust that can be used to close a deal.

Today a handshake can offer tremendous value in business and can greatly aid in sales.  Business Insider wrote an interesting article that indicated several university studies showed that handshakes before negations in business made the process flow much easier.  Offering this small gesture of trust can help in sales and communicating with the customer.

In the tanning salon a handshake can greatly help you connect with customers new an old.  Consider greeting your customers with a handshake to help put them at ease, and always remember to smile.  It is the little extra steps that help give the customer a better experience and make them want to return to the salon in the future.
