Vitamin D Benefits

Medical Daily recently published a great article on many of the benefits that are associated with Vitamin D.   Medical studies show that most people are showing a deficiency in Vitamin D.  This is partially because many people spend the majority of daylight hours inside.

One of the unique aspects of sunlight exposure that most people don’t consider is the fact that it can help you sleep better at night.  Our bodies regulate our waking and sleeping through Circadian rhythms and the amount of sun we are exposed to help regulate those patterns.

Vitamin D has also been shown to enhance your mood!  Exposure to sunlight or bright light increases serotonin levels which is directly related to moods.  Inversely, this is also seen by those who suffer from SAD (Seasonal Awareness Disorder) who are exposed to lower levels of sun during the winter and have lower levels of serotonin.

It isn’t always easy to find the time to get out into the sun, but you can make up for it by spending a little bit of time in the tanning salon!  The tanning salon can help increase your levels of Vitamin D as well as give you a great tan!
